United Beyond the Game: Community Inspired
Inspired by opportunity. Driven by access. Grounded in awareness.
Inspired by opportunity. Driven by access. Grounded in awareness.
Expanding opportunity and access in communities by connecting people, programs, and partners. Through storytelling, education, and collaboration, we transform potential into purpose and foster lasting community impact.

The Art of Awareness seeks to tell the stories of our neighbors, highlighting good works, great organizations, and ways to connect with our West Michigan communities and beyond. We don’t just tell you the story of a non-profit or business, we dive into the purpose and passion of the people who work there. We explore high-level social issues by connecting you with local stories that inspire and engage. In a world of sound bites, algorithms, and social divisions, we revive the sense of connection and community by getting to know one another, exploring ways to give back, and celebrating the stories of those around us.
Host Laurie Duthie seeks to take community is viral again with the Art of Awareness.

United Beyond the Game partnered with The Over Under Initiative (founded by Kyle Martino) and Midwest United FC to install the first Goalfer prototype - transforming basketball courts into street soccer and multi-sport spaces to expand access for kids most in need.

Kyle Martino and Stephen Herdsman, former MLS players, gathered eight former professional soccer teammates alongside a professional women’s basketball player to celebrate the court that expands access and encourages community through sport.
